Making my way back
All right. finally, after a year, I am able to stay up to 11pm. Which means I can make the time to blog on the nights I don’t have to research, plan curriculum for the kids, sew, catch up on Ted talks, etc, etc. Though I am on my last bit on energy here, I do want to just put out my latest thoughts: what is community in our present day? how is that represented? how is that organized? what kind of effect will this “community” of our present day have in the next generations? I am feeling like I need to know the answer to those questions as I continue to build with this family of mine. Specifically around how we form a collective environment/mentality while at the same time retain and empower our individuality. It all feels so ungrounded because I believe our societies have not been able to uphold a communal goal and mindset, rather they continue to push us towards the building of ego, and depend upon it to lead us on a path of success that will ensure the permanence of a healthy economy. Not to mention the demise of our existence! But in a more day to day kind of issue, how can I teach my children that they are individuals, but primarily they are part of a collective and responsible for everyone’s wellbeing and growth. Glad to know that I still live in a time where our ancestors are alive through oral traditions and indigenous practices that continue the legacy of collective uplifment. I can only try my best to ensure my children have something to pass on. When I get to bloggin a bit earlier on the night, I do want to share what I have learned in our most recent community. Off to sleep on our delux trailer.
